Spend a day with nature. Go to the Sunset Beach & board a native motor boat to cruise the lagoon, adopt and release a baby turtle, and lunch at the beach.  Surrounded by palms, water hyacinths and native flora, this has been the location for Hollywood films such as The African Queen and Rambo. This tour is a must for nature lovers. Once at the beach front you can enjoy a typical lunch and domestic drinks. After lunch, you can walk along the beach or just relax in a hammock.

Barra Vieja, wich is located 10 kilometers west of the city, is loved for its rustic, palm-lined beach and dreamy sunsets. If you’re looking to take a break from the activity of downtown and the resort circuit, take a taxi or bus to this open stretch of Pacific Ocean beach known as Pie de la Cuesta. This long sandbar rests between the crashing Pacific Ocean on one side, and scenic Coyuca Lagoon on the other. The main draw is the area’s flaming tropical sunsets. Grab a hammock, order a cool drink and relax. Coconut gin is the specialty.

Across from Pie de la Cuesta is the famous Coyuca Lagoon, a natural sanctuary surrounded by coconut groves, abundant palm trees and a very extensive variety of fauna offering the visitor the opportunity to get away from the busy activities of the city. Coyuca Lagoon offers boat tours, excellent water skiing, and exotic wildlife tours that result in an unforgettable experience. This lagoon was the perfect site to film some of the first “Tarzan Movies”; some scenes of the movie “African Queen”, and parts of the famous movie “Rambo II”. The visitor will find small cozy hotels and plenty of restaurants in the area.

There is an all-inclusive excursion to the Coyuca area. Travel by boat along jungle shrouded canals, enjoy lunch at Isla de Los Pajaros (Island of the Birds) and finish the tour with a mud bath!
